The Developer Says...

Death Was Not The End. It Was Just The Beginning.

Mateus, a young adult crushed by the weight of life, made the final decision in search of peace. But the silence he expected never came. Instead, he opened his eyes in a much worse place: the Umbral.

"Umbral" is a first-person atmospheric psychological horror experience focused on a dense narrative. It's not about cheap jumpscares, but the suffocating weight of being in a reality where you are not welcome, facing the consequences of your own actions.

A Dark Vision of the Afterlife

Inspired by the beliefs of Kardecist Spiritism and Umbanda, the game explores a hostile spiritual dimension inhabited by pain and regret. Mateus must navigate this frightening reality, questioning why his final rest was denied, only to quickly realize that there are greater cruelties here than in the world of the living.

Key Features:

  • 👁️ Atmospheric Horror: The tension lies in the immersion. Fear stems from the oppressive environment, disturbing sound design, and the certainty that you are completely alone in a terrible place.

  • 📜 Dense Narrative: A deep and personal story. Explore intriguing scenarios and find fragments that piece together the puzzle of Mateus's torment.

  • 🔍 Exploration & Mystery: Interact with the environment, find items, and discover paths to delve deeper into this dark dimension.

  • Short & Intense Experience: Developed by a two-person team, the game offers a focused and impactful journey of approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.

⚠️ SENSITIVE CONTENT WARNING:

This game deals with extremely heavy and mature themes that may be distressing or act as triggers for some players. The central narrative directly addresses depression and suicide. The experience also contains depictions of physical torture and psychological violence. Strong player discretion is advised.
