The Developer Says...

Take to the skies in Sopwith, a faithful reimagining of the legendary 1984 DOS classic that defined a generation of PC gaming.

Pilot your WWI biplane across a scrolling battlefield, dodging enemy fire, strafing ground targets, and dropping bombs on factories, tanks, and fuel depots. Manage your fuel, ammunition, and bombs carefully — every sortie counts. Pull off daring loops and stalls, master your flaps, and push your engine to the limit as you fight for air superiority.

Features

  • Novice Mode — Learn the ropes with no enemy plane in the sky. Focus on ground targets and master your controls.
  • Solo Mode — Fly alone against a full battlefield of ground defenses. Every target must be destroyed to advance.
  • VS Computer — Face off against an AI-controlled rival biplane in classic dogfight combat while completing your bombing objectives.
  • Online Multiplayer — Challenge a friend over Steam in head-to-head aerial combat with deterministic lockstep networking for a smooth, lag-free experience.
  • Progressive Difficulty — Eight escalating levels with tougher defenses, more aggressive tanks, and a smarter AI opponent.
  • Authentic Retro Audio — All sounds are generated procedurally at runtime, faithfully recreating the original PC speaker experience.
  • Radar Display — Keep track of your enemy, ground targets, and incoming threats with the classic top-of-screen radar.

Originally created by David L. Clark in 1984, Sopwith became one of the most beloved shareware games of the DOS era. This Unity remake preserves the tight, responsive gameplay of the original while bringing it to modern systems with Steam multiplayer support.

Easy to pick up, tough to master. Can you clear all eight levels?
