In a zombie-ravaged world, you are a survivor trying to reach an evacuation zone ten miles away. Play alone or with up to three others, following the route through a procedurally generated landscape.
Travel by day to search buildings and vehicles for weapons, ammunition, materials, and supplies. As night approaches, choose a place to hold and build barricades, traps, and other defenses against more dangerous infected.
Complete required missions and optional events for equipment, blueprints, crafting recipes, or companions. The infected grow stronger as you advance, so you must weigh pushing toward safety against taking time to gather resources and improve your gear. Choose from starting characters with different advantages, and unlock more through challenges and achievements.
Players who enjoy the game often praise the cooperative runs and the day-to-night survival loop: scavenging for supplies, choosing when to advance, then preparing a defense against stronger night enemies. Some also appreciate the tense resource decisions and the post-apocalyptic setting.
