A Short Hike

You play as Claire, a bird visiting her aunt at Hawk Peak Provincial Park. Her goal is to reach the mountain summit, but you can explore the island at your own pace, following trails or wandering into the backcountry.

Travel by running, climbing, swimming, boating, and gliding. Meet other hikers, talk with them, take on small favors and mini-games, fish, and search for coins, treasures, and other hidden finds.

Golden feathers improve Claire’s climbing stamina and jumping ability, helping her reach higher and harder-to-access places. Finding feathers and taking part in side activities can make the climb easier, while the summit remains the central destination.

Players often enjoy the unhurried exploration, with a compact island that rewards wandering with collectibles, side activities, and small encounters. Gliding and climbing are frequently praised for making movement and the return from high places satisfying, while character interactions and the soundtrack add to the welcoming atmosphere. Some players find the lack of an in-game map and the shifting camera make navigation difficult, and a few note that completion hunting can become tedious.
