You play as a Roman legionary during the Second Punic War and later campaigns, choosing how to serve as you try to survive, advance in rank, and earn honors. Your decisions shape the risks you take and the course of each career.
Between battles, you can train weapon skills and physical attributes, spend time on leisure, seek equipment, or take on camp duties. Events and attribute or skill checks can affect your health, morale, money, virtue, and relationships with soldiers and superiors.
Combat is turn-based, with choices about attacking, defending, and managing your stance. Factors such as morale, reach, terrain, and fighting space can influence battles. Death ends a run, but points earned from past careers can improve a future legionary's starting attributes, skills, or equipment.
