You play Karl Hamba, the sole keeper of the Bento, an isolated space lighthouse. His repetitive routine is interrupted by an emergency radio transmission, drawing him into a mystery while he works alongside the station’s AI, Gorky.
Explore the station, inspect its controls and equipment, and keep its systems running. Many puzzles ask you to study technical manuals and diagrams, then apply their instructions to machinery, circuits, and other station functions.
The story unfolds through daily tasks, conversations, and the developing radio contact. Between repairs, you can make coffee, play chess with Gorky, care for a pet tuatara, and attend to other routines aboard the Bento.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its emotional story, lonely space-station atmosphere, visual style, and the distinctive challenge of solving technical problems from manuals. Some find the puzzles rewarding and logical, while others consider them obscure or frustrating; reactions to the story also vary, with several finding it deeply moving and others feeling it is rushed or did not connect with them.
