Set in the zombie-infested Knox Event zone, Project Zomboid puts you in the role of an ordinary survivor with no fixed quest line. Explore towns and countryside, search abandoned buildings and vehicles, and decide for yourself how to spend each day.
Avoid or fight zombies while keeping track of hunger, thirst, fatigue, mood, injuries, illness, and other needs. Sound and visibility can draw danger, and wounds, exhaustion, or a careless choice can put a run at risk.
Scavenge materials to craft, cook, repair gear, and barricade or build a base. Develop skills through use, and pursue longer-term routines such as farming, fishing, trapping, and maintaining vehicles as utilities fail and conditions change. Play solo or in multiplayer, with customizable sandbox settings.
Players who enjoy Project Zomboid often praise the freedom to shape each run into a personal survival story, along with its tense atmosphere and detailed day-to-day systems. Reviews also value the range of activities and the option to play with friends. Other reviews criticize the steep learning curve, development pace, updates, or the lack of longer-term goals, so these experiences are not universal.
Project Zomboid is an open-ended zombie-infested sandbox. It asks one simple question – how will you die?
In the towns within the Knox Event Exclusion Zone our survivors must loot houses, build defences and do their utmost to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming. Continued survival relies on cunning, luck, and the ability to evade a relentless horde...
