BOMJMAN is a hardcore indie shooter, based on the author’s cartoon of the same name, about a hobo-superhero, who punishes evil in the futuristic city, ridden with crime. Evil must be defeated but our hero must answer one question – what for?

In a grim futuristic city where crime has overwhelmed law enforcement, a newly unemployed man becomes BOMJMAN, a reluctant and often lazy superhero. He takes on criminals and a secretive organization while facing the question of why he keeps fighting.
The game is a 2.5D action brawler with shooting: fight groups of thugs using melee attacks and ranged weapons, then face the bosses of the city's criminal factions. BOMJMAN can also stun enemies with his supernatural stench and strike with a fossilized sock.
Levels mix combat with environmental interaction and traversal, including moving objects, climbing, and short sections of swimming. Enemies have different weaknesses, and breakable objects can factor into fights; the game also leans on crude comedy and an offbeat cyberpunk setting.
Players who enjoy BOMJMAN often praise its crude, absurd humor, distinctive cyberpunk street-world, and soundtrack. Some also find its beat-'em-up combat satisfying and varied, especially the unusual powers and interactive objects. The humor and references are not to every player's taste, and reviewers also mention aiming and control frustrations.
