You are a traveler in the fairytale lands of the Braided Shore, free to set personal goals rather than follow a fixed main quest. Character creation offers 12 Forms focused on identity and personality, and the world invites you to explore at your own pace.
Travel between wild areas and settlements, talk with inhabitants, investigate places and events, and keep track of clues as you uncover stories and hidden locations. You can gather and trade goods for supplies and equipment; point-and-click movement and limited guidance make finding your way part of the journey.
Develop your character by gaining experience through activities such as exploration, gathering, courteous interactions, and trading, then unlock abilities, magical skills, and passive feats. Combat is available but not the main focus. The original small-scale multiplayer design also uses symbols and gestures instead of text chat for player communication.
Players who enjoy Book of Travels often praise its hand-painted look, music, tranquil pace, and the pleasure of exploring without a prescribed route. Reviews also highlight discoveries, hidden lore, trading, and the unusual symbol-based encounters with other travelers. Many reviewers, however, focus on the game’s unfinished state and halted development, as well as bugs, unclear direction, and the loss of its multiplayer experience.
Book of Travels is a serene RPG adventure that sets you adrift in a fairytale world without the restraints of linear missions and plotlines.
Book of Travels is all about the journey, not the destination. Explore the wilds and visit the cities of the Braided Shore peninsula. Wander deep into the layers of this hand-drawn world, stumble upon its hidden places or unravel its many mysteries. There is no overarching goal and no real beginning or end.

Take note: This is a game for wayfinders and wanderers and your route is not pre-destined. Instead, it will be up to you to play in your own style and to shape your own journey. Whichever way you choose to travel, you’ll soon be adding your own chapters to Book of Travels.
