When the Past was Around is an adventure point-and-click puzzle game about love, moving on, letting go, and the joy and pain of everything in between.

Eda is a young woman trying to find her way through love, heartbreak, and change. After meeting a mysterious man known as the Owl, she explores surreal rooms shaped by memories of their life together.
Search each scene for objects and clues, interact with what you find, and solve puzzles to open doors and move forward. The point-and-click challenges range from simple object searches to puzzles that require closer observation and thought.
The story unfolds without spoken dialogue, through hand-drawn scenes, small environmental details, and music. Chapters lead Eda through fragments of the past as she pieces together what happened and considers how to carry those memories with her.
Players often praise the hand-drawn art, atmospheric music, and quiet, wordless storytelling, describing the combination as a moving way to explore love and loss. Many also enjoy the concise point-and-click puzzles and find them a good fit for the story, though some players find particular puzzles confusing. Reactions to the narrative vary: it resonates deeply with some, while others find it too brief, unclear, or less affecting than they hoped.
