After dreaming of the Mana Tree, you set out to find it in Fa’Diel—but the world map begins empty. As you acquire artifacts, you choose where to place them, bringing towns, dungeons, and other locations into the world.

Explore the places you create, meet their inhabitants, and take on quests told through multiple character-focused storylines rather than one strictly linear sequence. Your choices about artifact placement and quest order can affect which events and areas become available.

Fight monsters in real time with equipped weapons, armor, and accessories, while learning abilities and special techniques. You can also craft and modify equipment, raise monster companions, create golems, and grow fruit. The remaster adds rearranged music with an option to switch to the original soundtrack, a way to turn off enemy encounters, and the Ring Ring Land mini-game.
