Urtuk escapes a sanatorium after being mutated by an experimental serum and searches the ruined world for a cure. You guide him and a band of adventurers through a harsh, low-fantasy landscape.
Combat takes place in turn-based battles on hex grids, where positioning, elevation, and environmental hazards shape your options. Coordinate fighters, archers, and other specialists, and use pushes and counters to turn the terrain against enemies.
Travel between encounters on a campaign map, recruit followers, and collect equipment and loot. Characters gain skills through actions in battle, while abilities extracted from fallen enemies let you customize their roles and builds.
In this sample, players often praise the tactical combat for rewarding careful positioning and creative use of terrain, as well as the flexibility of building characters with mutations, skills, and different classes. Some also enjoy the challenging battles and grim art style. Common reservations include repetitive late-game encounters, difficulty that can hinge on map layouts, and systems that are not clearly explained.
