You arrive alone at a remote island lighthouse after its previous keeper disappears. As the new keeper, you take responsibility for the station and its light, while strange events unsettle your isolation.
Your days involve maintaining the lighthouse, keeping it lit through the night, and exploring the island to deal with problems such as missing supplies and damage around your dwelling. You also encounter puzzles, visions, and occasional threats.
The story unfolds in fragments as the routine grows stranger, leaving players to interpret what is happening. The Director’s Cut includes three endings, with some requiring different actions or further playthroughs to reach.
Players who enjoy the game often highlight its lonely, oppressive atmosphere, retro visuals, and sound design, which make the lighthouse routine feel unsettling. Some are drawn to its cryptic story and multiple endings, while others find the narrative hard to follow. Reviews also frequently criticize unclear objectives and repetitive backtracking; reactions to the later sections and chase sequences are mixed.
