Play Go, placing stones in turn-based matches to control more territory than your opponent. Interactive tutorials introduce the rules, and you can practice on board sizes from 5x5 to 19x19.
In the campaign, compete against nations for regions on a map. Conquered land generates resources for abilities used in battles; solve Go puzzles to fortify regions, defend against invasions with preset-board matches, and team up with AI allies in some matches.
Practice against AI opponents or local players, or play online through the Go server integration. Review finished matches with AI analysis, solve puzzles, explore game records and openings, and use Workshop content or create campaign stories.
In the supplied reviews, players frequently appreciate the AI match reviews, which highlight mistakes and suggest alternatives, along with the range of practice tools for learning Go. Reviewers also praise the campaign’s map-based structure, the choice of AI opponents, online Go integration, and community puzzles. Some players find the instruction or AI feedback does not explain the reasoning behind strong moves clearly enough.
The rules of Go (also known as Weiqi (围棋, 圍棋), Baduk (바둑), and Igo (囲碁)) are fairly simple and are covered in full within interactive in-game tutorials. In short, two players take turns placing stones on the board with the goal to control more territory than the opponent. The strategy to accomplish this goal runs deep, which is what has kept people playing Go for thousands of years. In The Conquest of Go, the player will compete against nations for control of land and resources through a campaign mode with Go gameplay. Players will improve their skills by playing matches, reviewing matches, and solving Go problems. Several educational and AI assisted features are available to help new and experienced players. Once the player has grasped the basics, they can also challenge opponents online from around the world.
