projectM is a real-time music visualizer: play audio from another application or feed it through a microphone, and the program turns the sound into animated patterns on screen.
Browse a library of user-made visual presets, whose shapes and movement respond to the audio. You can also create your own presets using a text editor.
Interact with visuals by dragging waveforms across the screen. The display can run full-screen and stretch across multiple monitors.
Reviewers often enjoy the range of visual presets and watching patterns move with their music. Many also value the familiar feel of older music visualizers, while some praise how quickly it can be set up and used. Experiences vary: some report visuals that barely respond to certain audio, and others find the effects excessively bright or strobing.
