You play Hiroki, a young swordsman bound by a vow to protect his town and the people he loves. After tragedy disrupts his life, his journey tests his sense of duty in a world that reaches beyond the mortal realm.

Travel through side-scrolling environments framed by fixed, cinematic camera angles. Fight swordsmen and supernatural foes with directional attacks, blocks, parries, dodges, and combos, with ranged weapons providing another way to engage enemies.

Explore the linear route and its occasional side paths for collectibles and upgrades, and use shrines as checkpoints. New moves and weapons become available as you progress; choices along the way shape which ending Hiroki reaches.
