Set in 18th-century France, Card Shark follows a young tavern worker drawn into the world of card cheating by the Comte de Saint-Germain. Their travels take them from local tables to elite gambling rooms as a larger mystery unfolds.
Rather than playing a conventional card game, you perform sleight-of-hand tricks through short interactive sequences. Techniques include marking cards, false shuffles, switching decks and dealing specific cards while keeping opponents from catching on.
New tricks are taught and practiced before being tested in increasingly demanding games, where timing, memory and precise inputs matter. Winnings help you reach higher-stakes tables, and choices along the way can affect the ending.
Players who enjoy Card Shark often praise its unusual focus on performing card cheats, the tension of carrying out tricks without being caught, and the way those challenges accompany a story set in 18th-century France. Art direction and music are also recurring highlights. Some players, however, find the trick instructions and timed sequences demanding, with controls and retries adding to the frustration.
