You play as Michael LeRoi, the Shadow Man, a voodoo warrior who travels between Liveside, the world of the living, and Deadside, the world of the dead. His journey takes him through both realms to stop a supernatural apocalypse.
Explore large, interconnected areas, platform through hazardous terrain, fight enemies, and search for hidden items and routes. The levels form a maze-like world that encourages revisiting places as you discover new ways to reach them.
Collect Dark Souls to gain power and open gates, and find voodoo artifacts that grant weapons or help you reach new areas. This remaster also restores cut content and levels, adds weapons and enemies, and offers updated controls and visual options.
Players often praise the game's oppressive horror atmosphere, unusual world, music, and maze-like exploration, with some finding the satisfaction of learning its interconnected levels especially rewarding.
