You play as the final creation of the goddess Juxtia, journeying through the ruined remains of two divine kingdoms as the Tarnishing spreads. The game is a single-player 2D dark fantasy action RPG with platforming and a story told through its world and characters.
Fight enemies and bosses with stamina-based attacks and dodges, then use openings to keep up pressure. Consecutive attacks can trigger Energy Rush, temporarily increasing stamina and mana regeneration. The journey moves through distinct environments, with combat encounters, shortcuts, and some side paths along the way.
Defeated enemies provide resources for leveling attributes and upgrading weapons. You can equip weapons, armor, spells, passive Gifts, and special abilities, including Relics gained from bosses that unleash a powerful attack when charged. Fountains serve as checkpoints where you can adjust your setup.
Players who enjoy the game often point to its detailed pixel art, striking environments, and memorable boss designs, as well as the satisfaction of learning its challenging fights. Others find the combat frustrating, especially when dodges feel awkward or enemy hitboxes seem unfair. Reviews also frequently describe the journey as linear, with mixed opinions on weapon balance, exploration, and overall combat feel.
