You play as Pseudo, a reclusive martial artist who takes on the protection of the Boy, a small creature pursued for his mysterious powers. Their journey through Zenozoik brings them into conflict with Gemini, the Mistress of the Artifacts.
Explore connected regions, meet their strange inhabitants, and uncover paths and secrets. Combat centers on hand-to-hand fighting: attack, dodge, block, parry, and use special techniques, adapting your approach to different opponents.
Learn martial arts styles and special attacks, then improve Pseudo’s characteristics as you progress. At camps, you can enter a night-time version of the world to explore altered areas and find different enemies and items. Before certain fights, a dice-based Ritual lets you wager artifacts that change the conditions of the encounter.
Players often praise the game’s unusual world and art direction, its close-quarters combat, and the relationship between Pseudo and the Boy. The music and voice acting also earn recurring praise. Some players find the winding areas hard to navigate or the combat clunky or repetitive; opinions on its difficulty and feel vary.
You play as Pseudo, a master of martial arts who lives as a recluse in the strange land of Zenozoik. When you cross paths with the Boy, a small creature whose mysterious powers have attracted the attention of Gemini, the Mistress of the Artifacts, you decide to protect him, unaware that much greater forces are involved.
