Automate Your Empire
Distant Worlds 2 is a vast, pausable real-time 4X space strategy game.
Developed by CodeForce · Published by Slitherine Ltd.

Lead a growing space empire across a procedurally generated galaxy. Choose a faction and explore star systems, seek resources, establish colonies, and deal with rival empires, independent colonies, traders, pirates, and other threats. Play through storylines and victory conditions or shape a more open-ended sandbox.
Develop your economy and infrastructure while resources move through the galaxy on ships before they can be used. Civilian freighters haul goods, mining stations gather materials, and fuel supplies affect where fleets can travel. Design ships, organize fleets, and use them to defend territory, raid rivals, or invade planets.
Research technologies, conduct diplomacy and espionage, and decide how much of your empire to manage directly. Automation can handle selected areas or nearly everything, while advisors offer guidance. Galaxy settings, an in-game editor, and the choice between hands-on management and delegation let you tailor each game.
Players who enjoy Distant Worlds 2 often praise its large-scale, detailed space simulation, especially the visible civilian economy and the movement of resources through supply lines. Many also value being able to choose what to automate and what to manage themselves, along with ship design and the scope for long empire-building games. Reviews differ sharply on how well automation works, and several describe a steep learning curve and an awkward interface that can get in the way of those systems.
