If On A Winter's Night, Four Travelers

A masked ball is underway aboard a train in the late 1920s when four unfamiliar travelers find themselves drawn into its strange gathering. Laylah listens as the guests share the events that brought them there, connecting their separate stories.

The chapters follow Carlo, waiting in a Rome hotel for his lover as political pressure grows; Lady Winterbourne, grieving her husband amid suitors and laudanum; and Dr. Jordan Samuels, a mistreated surgeon who turns to occult studies. Each story explores a different setting and struggle, while Laylah’s presence frames the journey.

Play by walking through scenes, talking with characters, examining objects, and solving situational puzzles. The chapters progress linearly, with clues found in dialogue and the environment. In Lady Winterbourne’s story, taking laudanum shifts the appearance of her mansion between contrasting versions of the world.
