Runo is a first-person narrative walking game set at an old family cottage in rural Finland on Midsummer’s Eve. The protagonist returns to a place tied to family memories, where Finnish folklore and supernatural mysteries begin to surface.
Players explore the cottage grounds, forest, and lakeside, inspect objects, and follow tasks delivered through a cellphone. Journal entries and details in the environment reveal fragments of the protagonist’s past as the story unfolds.
Progress combines exploration, small environmental puzzles, and choices that invite reflection on memory and life decisions. It is a short, mostly linear experience designed to be played in one sitting.
Reviewers often enjoy Runo’s quiet atmosphere, scenic environments, and distinctive Finnish folklore and cultural details. Many also appreciate how the folklore connects with a personal family story, and some describe the short journey as moving; the music is another recurring highlight.
