In Kazamatsuri, a city shaped around coexistence between civilization and nature, high-school student Tennouji Kotarou spends his days with friends including childhood friend Kotori and classmate Yoshino. When rumors and mysterious events surface around the city’s annual Harvest Festival, he joins the Occult Research Society’s investigation.
The story moves between school comedy and the group’s search for information about strange occurrences. Players read dialogue, make choices, and use a map to select locations and encounter characters and events.
Choices lead into character-focused story routes, each following a different perspective on the unfolding events. The five heroine routes are followed by the Moon and Terra routes, which bring the larger story threads together.
Players often praise the story’s scope and themes, the distinct tones of its routes, its character cast, and its soundtrack. Several also enjoy the early school comedy and character interactions, while others find the common route lengthy, the pacing uneven, or parts of the later story difficult to follow.
