Set in the ancient world, the game puts you in command of armies from different civilizations, including Spartans, Persians, Egyptians, Macedonians, Romans, and Indians. You can play through campaigns or lead a faction in standalone battles.
Build up a settlement by gathering resources and constructing buildings, then recruit troops and direct them in real-time battles. Armies can fight on land and at sea, and sieges let you attack fortified cities.
A defining system lets you customize soldiers’ equipment, changing the weapons and armor they carry. The game also includes six campaigns, skirmishes, and online multiplayer battles.
Players who enjoy the game often point to its nostalgic feel, ancient setting, and visuals, along with the freedom to customize soldiers and recover weapons from fallen enemies. Some also praise the campaigns and the appeal of its classic RTS battles. Other reviews describe significant rough edges, particularly bugs, unit movement, and resource gathering.
