In a dark-fantasy reimagining of Brazil’s War of Canudos, you play as Pajeú, a warrior trying to rescue the soul of his fallen mentor, the Counselor. You descend into hostile areas to fight undead forces and other enemies tied to the conflict.
Combat combines isometric action with rapid attacks and abilities, including knife strikes, a great bell, and a sidearm. Runs feature a countdown that makes exploration and combat compete for your time; Relaxed Mode removes the time pressure. As you progress through each run, you choose temporary Blessings and gather loot.
Between runs, you can adjust skills and equipment, improve your character, and develop builds around Relics and their effects. The story spans three acts, with post-campaign Ascension and additional difficulty challenges offering further progression.
