You play as an ashigaru, a foot soldier whose lord was killed in a demon ambush. You enter a labyrinth in a mythical, demon-ravaged feudal Japan to track down the Demon King.

Explore dark corridors and surrounding areas, searching for supplies, weapons, armor, talismans, and clues. Notes and environmental details help you understand local dangers and solve puzzles, while encounters with unusual characters offer other ways to spend time on the journey.

Combat is first-person and built around melee weapons such as katanas and naginatas, with bows and firearms also available.
