ScreenPlay CCG

From the Devs

A comedy-fueled collectible card game where movie tropes come to life—and run the studio too.

ScreenPlay CCG is a digital card game set in a delightfully absurd universe where the characters from your favorite genres aren’t just starring in films—they’re the ones calling the shots. Literally. These eccentric directors produce, direct, and even sabotage each other’s blockbusters in the most chaotic filmmaking process ever committed to cardboard… or, well, digital cardboard.

Build decks using genre-savvy characters, absurd plot twists, and iconic film tropes to outwit your rivals in a game that rewards strategy, timing, and a healthy appreciation for how ridiculous cinema can be.

🎞 CCG Meets Fighting Game Strategy

Outthink, outplay, out-direct.

Unlike traditional CCGs that rely on slow turns and predictable patterns, ScreenPlay borrows from fighting game mechanics. You and your opponent plan your moves at the same time, then watch the result unfold like you’re watching a classic masterpiece in the making. Whether you’re pulling off a perfect dodge, reading an attack two scenes ahead, or throwing down a plot twist that makes everything go off the rails, victory comes from reading your opponent as much as your deck.

Want to bluff your way through a thriller? Go full ham in a melodrama? You can do that. This is a game of mind games and movie magic.

⏱ Simultaneous Turns

No waiting, no stalling—just pure, unpredictable chaos.

In ScreenPlay, both players secretly script their scenes (i.e., their turns) in advance. Once you've locked in your decisions, the game cuts straight to the action, playing both turns out simultaneously. The result? A fast-paced, brainy experience where timing and prediction are everything—and there's no room to pause for popcorn.

Every scene is a gamble. Did your Horror Lead strike when your opponent adventurously dodged? Did they perform a dramatic scene while you expected an action movie-style assault? You won’t know until the camera rolls.

🏆 Win by Telling a Better Story

Victory isn’t about HP bars—it’s about completing your character arcs .

Every Lead character has a distinct narrative journey. Over the course of a match, you’ll earn Narrative Points by playing synergistic cards and making smart choices. Complete the arcs of any two of your three Leads, and you win the game. No explosions required—though those help too.

This mechanic rewards clever deck construction, genre mastery, and good ol’ fashioned timing. It’s a game of stories within a story, where every match feels like a mini movie—even if the script makes no sense and half the cast is mysteriously missing in act two.

Just remember: knowing your opponent’s Leads and their story goals can help you sabotage their arcs before they reach their big finale.

🎭 Lead the Cast with Genre-Bending Characters

With over 22 unique Leads available at launch and many more in development, ScreenPlay is packed with genre-hopping personalities ready for the spotlight.

Each Lead comes from a different cinematic tradition and brings a signature set of abilities and cards. Whether you're leaning into the brooding mystery of Richard Spade, the razor-sharp wit of Roast Comic Frog, the righteous vengeance of Maximus, or the pure chaos of the Illuminati Lizard, every character changes how you build your deck and approach the game.

And with the ability to mix and match any three Leads, the combinations are practically limitless—well, not actually limitless, this is still an indie game. But you get the idea.

📚 Every Game is Its Own Movie

Deckbuilding isn't just strategy—it's screenwriting.

You’ll start each game by choosing three Leads and constructing a 40-card deck tailored to their unique arcs. Some cards represent their strengths. Others exploit genre clichés or set up over-the-top payoffs. Want to lean into a character’s Plot Armor? Go for it. Here, “lazy writing” is just another path to brilliance.

The result is a game where every match feels like a short film that spirals out of control in the best possible way. Build tension. Subvert expectations. And maybe—just maybe—pull off a finale worthy of a standing ovation.

🎬 Solo Play for Aspiring Auteurs

Not ready for the festival circuit? No problem.

Start off with a guided tutorial and a pre-built deck to ease you into the chaotic world of ScreenPlay. Then, grow your collection by completing daily and weekly challenges, or by taking on boss bots in a rotating lineup of single-player game modes. There’s always something new to do—even if your cast is constantly forgetting their lines.

Future updates will bring full-blown movie campaign modes, letting you explore the bizarre backstories, rivalries, and plot holes of your favorite Leads. Just pray they don’t go on strike before then. The devs writing the scripts themselves? Terrifying.

🌐 Multiplayer Mayhem

Challenge filmmakers around the world in a battle for box office supremacy.

Jump into competitive ladder matches against players of your skill level or explore alternate multiplayer formats for chaotic genre mashups. Want to make a romantic horror musical with a sci-fi twist and a noir detective lead? That’s not just possible—it’s encouraged.

Show off your deckbuilding brilliance, master the meta, or just enjoy the ride. Because in ScreenPlay, even the worst movie can still win Best Picture if you play your cards right.

Oh, and don’t forget to join the community on Discord—weekly tournaments, bonus prizes, and the occasional pun war await.

🧰 Craft Your Own Blockbuster

Build your collection your way—whether through grind or glamour.

Earn cards by completing missions, opening booster packs, or climbing the competitive ladder. Got extras? Use the in-game crafting system to recycle duplicates into the cards you actually want.

Feeling like a silver spoon-fed producer? You can also buy cards directly. We get it—not everyone wants to hustle in the editing bay. No judgment (well, maybe a little).

🎬 Expansions, Sequels & Spin-Offs

New content, every quarter. New drama, every time.

Every three months, ScreenPlay gets a fresh injection of content—new Leads, new cards, new movies, and new ways to play. These expansions keep the meta fresh and the production mayhem rolling, giving you endless ways to reinvent your cinematic masterpieces.

It’s like rebooting your favorite franchise, only on purpose. And with fewer angry fans.
