Alan Wake is trapped in a surreal Arizona story and must stop Mr. Scratch, his murderous double. The adventure unfolds like an episode of the fictional Night Springs series.
Explore locations, complete objectives, and fight Taken. Shine a flashlight to strip away their darkness, then finish them with firearms; the expanded arsenal includes several weapon types.
The story revisits three main locations as events shift, with manuscript pages used to unlock weapon chests. In Fight Till Dawn, hold out against waves of enemies until sunrise and compete for high scores.
Players who enjoy the original’s light-and-gun combat often appreciate this entry’s faster encounters, smoother-feeling controls, and wider weapon selection; some also enjoy the wave-survival arcade mode and Mr. Scratch’s appearances. A recurring criticism is that the short story revisits the same locations and feels repetitive, with many reviewers finding its story or atmosphere less compelling than the original.
