Set in June 1977, before the Keene Act bans unsanctioned masked vigilantes, the game follows Rorschach and Nite Owl as they investigate the disappearance of Violet Greene. Their search leads through the city's criminal underworld.
Play as either vigilante in a third-person beat ’em up, fighting waves of enemies with combos, takedowns, and weapons found along the way. Rorschach can disarm foes and use their weapons; Nite Owl combines martial arts with high-tech equipment.
The campaign spans three chapters and can be played solo or in local split-screen co-op. Combat abilities are available from the start, while Rorschach cards can build his rage meter and optional locked doors offer a lock-picking mini-game.
Reviews are mixed. Players who enjoy the game often point to its direct brawling and finishers, the fun of playing local co-op with a friend, and its dark comic-book atmosphere. Some also appreciate the settings and final encounters. Repetitive fights and the short campaign are frequent reservations.
