Set during the Cold War, the game follows Naked Snake on a covert mission in a dense jungle. He must move through enemy territory while using the environment to stay out of sight.
Stealth is built around choosing camouflage and face paint to blend into the surroundings. Explore the jungle, avoid or confront enemy soldiers, and use close-range combat to disarm, knock out, or question them.
Survival systems make food and injuries part of the mission: hunt animals to restore stamina, and treat wounds with the appropriate supplies. Finding equipment, hidden items, and additional camouflage offers more ways to prepare and approach encounters.
