The Developer Says...

XXX_CYBERRAT_XXX

XXX_CYBERRAT_XXX is your classic too-hard-to-actually-enjoy-it horror hacking game in the likes of Welcome To The Game, featuring a motel room, a computer, a hacker and a few dozen dark web pages for you to explore.

To complete the game, you must explore all 100 dark web pages and complete all three NSA hacking minigames.

Anxiety

As you explore The Dark Web, your anxiety increases. High anxiety causes your paranoid mind to experience more severe hallucinations. To relieve some of the stress and afford your medicine, you need to earn money - either by scamming people, managing a botnet, finding hidden links or beating hacking minigames. If left unmanaged, the monsters appearing in your hallucinations will kill you.

Hitmen

You are hunted by hitmen, sent by your former coworkers. You must utilize intelligence gathering websites you've found on The Dark Web to gather enough information on the hitmen to get rid of them before they get rid of you. Investigate your enemies by searching their phone number, online usernames, cryptocurrency addresses and other Personally identifiable information.

Roguelike

Every time you die, your whole progress is reset and you have to start over. A successful run takes around 90 minutes. Every death gives you detailed explanation and there are only minimal luck-based mechanics.

Upgrade

As you browse The Dark Web, you will gain experience. You can spend experience and money on your tools' upgrades, increasing their efficiency. It's up to you to prioritize which tool to upgrade.

Hardcore

This is a tough game and you will die many times. A combination of ever-increasing cost of your medicine, constant stream of hitmen trying to hunt you and terrifying hallucinations caused by your worsening mental state will put you under constant pressure and challenge your skills.
