Absent in the Rain

You follow Haruya, a reserved high-school student, as he spends rainy days with Yukino, a mysterious senpai. Their planned outing to a hydrangea garden unfolds against the backdrop of a serial murder case and unsettling supernatural imagery.

The story is told through text, character dialogue, and illustrated scenes. Its focus is the pair’s growing connection, while details about the murders and strange events add an undercurrent of mystery.

This short visual novel is mostly linear, with one choice leading to two endings. Reading both endings unlocks an extra scene; the presentation uses predominantly monochrome artwork and rain sounds.

Many supplied reviews praise the rainy, monochrome atmosphere, artwork, and music, and some describe the story as moving or memorable. Other players find the short length leaves the romance or plot underdeveloped, and several note that the prose can feel indirect or wordy. The limited number of choices is also a recurring point of criticism.
