Interior Worlds is a first-person exploration game set in empty, unsettling versions of familiar places, including a roadside hotel, a movie theater, and a mall. You explore these spaces with a vintage SLR camera, searching for anomalies to photograph.
Photography is central to both observation and progress: adjust zoom, focus, and angle to frame shots, then capture the points of interest each location asks you to find. The game uses a retro-inspired visual style and an ambient soundscape to shape the mood of each place.
Move through a series of distinct locations and explore beyond their main photo objectives to find optional secrets, collectibles, and hidden areas. You can also interact with objects such as phones, televisions, sinks, and vending machines, or change the lighting in some spaces.
In this helpfulness-selected sample, players often praise the eerie atmosphere, distinctive empty locations, and photography mechanic, which gives exploration a hands-on focus. Several also enjoy searching for secrets and hidden extras. Some reviewers find the photo objectives repetitive, the walking or backtracking tedious, or the ambient drone tiring.
