You play a lone dwarf sent into the caves of Hoxxes in a single-player, top-down auto-shooter. Missions place you in procedurally generated caves filled with alien enemies and Company objectives.
Move through the caves while your weapons fire automatically, dodge incoming enemies, and mine resources from the terrain. Mining can open new routes as well as provide loot, but it takes time while enemy pressure grows. After completing mission goals and facing a boss, you must reach the drop pod before its extraction timer expires.
Runs offer weapon and stat upgrades, with a loadout of up to four weapons. Choose among dwarf classes and variants, then develop their weapons and abilities during missions. Materials and unlocks also feed longer-term progression, while hazard levels and different mission types offer further challenges.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its engaging mining-and-combat loop, the choices involved in managing threats and resources, and the variety of classes and weapons. Some also value its recognizable Deep Rock Galactic setting. Other reviews describe later progression as grindy and repetitive, and find higher difficulties or the timed extraction frustrating.
