Each run moves through rooms of enemies, challenges, and rewards. Fight with a range of weapons and use charged attacks, dodges, parries, counters, jumps, and other movement abilities to survive and navigate platforming sections.
Choose Tarot modifiers to shape a run, improve weapons at shops, and use limited resources to reroll upgrades. Between runs, spend Synthetic Blood on a persistent tech tree; collect items and work toward stronger builds, with AI companions also available in combat.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its fast, responsive combat and the range of weapons and modifiers that let them create different builds from run to run. Reviews also highlight the pixel-art characters and visuals, and some find the dodge-and-counter combat especially satisfying.
