The Forest

You are the lone survivor of a passenger plane crash, stranded on a forested peninsula where your son has been taken. Search the island to learn what happened and find him.

Gather food and materials to manage hunger and cold, make tools and weapons, and build shelters, camps, traps, and defenses. You can choose to evade the island’s cannibal inhabitants or fight them.

Explore the surface and a network of caves for supplies and clues. Build up your equipment and defenses as you survive encounters with cannibals and mutants, with danger rising after dark.

In this sample, players often enjoy combining survival, crafting, and base building with the unease of being watched or attacked in the forest. Cave exploration and piecing together the island’s story are recurring draws, while co-op sessions are frequently described as tense, chaotic, and funny. Some players focus more on building and surviving than on pursuing the rescue story.
