网瘾少年2005 Internet addicted youth 2005

From the Devs

Game Introduction

"Internet Addicted Youth 2005" is a narrative-driven role-playing game that seamlessly integrates various scenario-appropriate gameplay elements. In this game, you will embody Wang Xiaoleng, a high school student addicted to the internet, and revisit the criticisms faced by teachers, classmates, and parents towards internet addiction and gaming in the early 2000s. Witnessing the downfall of fellow "addicts" around him, you must help Wang Xiaoleng reassess his aspirations and make his own choices at the crossroads of life.

The story unfolds in a small county town in 2005, coinciding with the publication of the article "When Teenagers Fall into the Web." This triggered a nationwide uproar in universities and colleges, leading to a crackdown on online gaming. Every teacher and parent viewed computer games as akin to poison or ferocious beasts. Against this backdrop, you will take on the role of the protagonist, Wang Xiaoleng, embarking on a unique journey as an internet-addicted teenager. Face the suppression of online activities by school teachers, brutal school violence, and oppression from local hooligans, directly confronting the bleak life of an internet-addicted youth. In this environment, is it more important to hold onto your original beliefs? Or is it more crucial to conform and be a model student, obedient to the wishes of parents and teachers? It's all up to you to decide for Wang Xiaoleng.

Closing Remarks

The original script of "Internet Addicted Youth 2005" centered around the inspirational theme of esports, with the choice of the year 2005 being inspired by Sky's victory at the WCG that year. However, later on, I realized that the protagonist shouldn't merely stand on the podium, he was also my hero for daring to take a step forward in that era, in that very moment. Hence, this version of "Internet Addicted Teenager 2005" emerged – a story that may not be as inspiring, but undoubtedly brave.

I hope this story can transport you back to those years and touch your heart. Furthermore, I would like to pay tribute to the earliest batch of unsung heroes in the world of esports.
