NEO Scavenger is a game where you must survive in the wasteland long enough to figure out who you are. Each turn, you must decide where to go, how to scavenge for supplies, and how to deal with anything and anyone you encounter.

You awaken without your memories in a post-apocalyptic version of Michigan. Stay alive long enough to investigate your identity and what happened, or roam the wasteland without pursuing the story. At the start of each run, choose abilities and flaws that shape what your character can do.
Explore a hex-based map, search ruins for supplies, and manage hunger, thirst, fatigue, illness, injuries, and exposure to the weather. Make and adapt equipment from available materials, hunt or forage for food, trade in Detroit, and decide what to carry within a weight- and space-limited inventory.
Encounters with people and creatures can lead to turn-based combat, but avoiding a fight may be safer. You can track or conceal tracks, hide, and investigate locations and devices for clues. Locations and some encounters vary between runs; there are no experience levels, and death ends the run, so progress comes from learning the systems and making better use of your choices.
Players who enjoy NEO Scavenger often praise its demanding survival systems, scavenging and crafting, and the surprising situations that emerge from encounters and resource choices. Reviews also value the bleak atmosphere, story mystery, and the way knowledge gained from one run can help in the next. Others find the difficulty, learning curve, random dangers, and interface frustrating, and some report save corruption.
