Speedball 2 HD is a modern reincarnation on the classic, futuristic cyberpunk sports game Speedball, originally developed by the Bitmap Brothers and first released for the Atari ST in 1990. A brutal mix of handball and ice hockey placed at break-neck pace.

Set in a future where rival gangs settle disputes through Speedball, the game puts you in charge of a nine-player team competing for a steel ball in enclosed arenas.
During matches, pass and throw the ball toward the opposing goal, tackle opponents, and use arena targets and bonus shots to score. Knockouts can also add points, so physical clashes are part of the contest.
Play quick matches, tournaments, or a career spanning ten seasons. Build your team by choosing players, formations, transfers, and upgrades, then compete in leagues and cups. Local multiplayer supports two players at once, with customizable tournaments for teams of up to eight.
Some players enjoy revisiting the classic, and a few praise the team-management layer, match controls, or arena sound. Others feel the game is slower or clunkier than the version they remember, and several report control or other technical problems. Criticism also focuses on missing features and AI behavior.
