KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

This collection brings together three experiences that lead into Kingdom Hearts III. In Dream Drop Distance HD, Sora and Riku take the Mark of Mastery exam; 0.2 Birth by Sleep follows Aqua; and χ Back Cover is an animated film about the Foretellers and the series’ origins.

In Dream Drop Distance, explore sleeping worlds and battle enemies as Sora and Riku. Flowmotion lets you move along walls and rails, while Reality Shifts add attacks tied to the environment. A timed Drop mechanic switches between the two characters, and raising Dream Eater Spirits can unlock abilities and stat boosts.

In 0.2 Birth by Sleep, play as Aqua as she travels through the Realm of Darkness, exploring and fighting. The short episode links her story to Kingdom Hearts III, while χ Back Cover presents its past-era story as a movie rather than a playable adventure.

Players who enjoyed the collection often praise Dream Drop Distance’s fast combat and Flowmotion, its worlds, and the chance to play as both Sora and Riku. Some also highlight the short Aqua episode for its combat, visuals, and story, and appreciate how the collection connects to later series events. Opinions on Dream Drop Distance’s mechanics and story are mixed, and many reviews criticize the package’s length and full price.
