Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, the story follows Sophia, a young plunderer drawn to the Minotaur’s Island to investigate visions and secrets from her past. As an army closes in, her journey becomes entangled with an ancient curse and the island’s myths.
Explore ruins and hazardous paths in a linear third-person adventure, searching for clues in Sophia’s notebook and using a Minoan sphere to direct light and activate mechanisms. The journey also shifts between Sophia’s medieval era and episodes set in ancient Minoan times.
Sophia fights with blades, using attacks, parries, dodges, and other tricks against enemies. Exploration and puzzles are broken up by stealth, chases, and encounters with a creature stalking the island; collected Resonance Points unlock abilities, while weapons and charms offer combat bonuses.
In this helpfulness-selected sample, players often praise the striking environments, soundtrack, and atmospheric presentation, along with the story’s mythic mystery and the shift toward more active melee combat. Exploration and light-based puzzles also appeal to many, though some find puzzles overabundant or repetitive, combat shallow, and the story or character relationships less affecting than in earlier games. Responses to the gameplay change and stealth sections vary.
