Lara Croft teams up with treasure hunter Carter Bell and the gods Horus and Isis to recover the fragments of Osiris and stop Set. The adventure unfolds across the Egyptian desert and ancient tombs, and can be played solo or with up to three other players online or locally.
Explore tombs from an isometric view, shoot enemies, jump across hazards, and solve environmental puzzles involving traps, platforms, switches, and other mechanisms. Levels also feature boss fights, and many challenges call for coordination between the characters.
Collect treasure, gems, weapons, rings, and artifacts as you progress. Equipment offers ways to build up characters, while scoring and optional tomb challenges give players reasons to revisit levels; co-op players can also compete for rewards.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its co-op, especially playing locally with friends or family, and the teamwork involved in solving tomb puzzles and navigating traps. Reviews also describe it as a compact, approachable mix of action and puzzles with an appealing Egyptian setting. Some players enjoy it solo, but others find the puzzles and level design work better with a group. Criticism commonly focuses on camera or control frustrations, repetitive or tedious sections, and technical problems reported by some players.
