Orbital Gear is a side-scrolling shooter in which you control a mech among small planets and other celestial objects. Their gravity pulls the mech along curved surfaces and helps build momentum for jumps and movement between worlds.
Choose two weapons from a set of twelve and equip utilities such as shields, turrets, or boosters. In battle, defeated enemies drop energy cores that can restore health and ammunition.
Multiplayer includes Deathmatch and Orbital Warfare, where teams try to destroy an opposing base or charge a powerful weapon using collected cores. The single-player Orbital Trials mode offers timed challenges against enemies, and the game also supports four-player split-screen.
In the supplied reviews, players often praise gravity-based movement for making traversal and combat feel different from a standard side-scrolling shooter, especially after the controls click. Weapon variety and playing locally with friends also earn positive mentions. Other reviews point to sparse online activity and limited solo content as drawbacks, with some noting that the gravity system takes time to learn.
