Deathsmiles

In Deathsmiles, you play as one of five angels defending the magical land of Gilverado from an invasion by Hell. Each angel has a familiar that accompanies her into battle.

Fight through horizontally scrolling stages filled with enemy fire, switching between shooting left and right as threats approach from either side. Manage your familiar alongside your character, and use power-ups and counter mechanics during combat.

Choose a route through the stages and set their difficulty, then replay with different angels, paths, and modes. The game also supports two-player local co-op.

In this sample, players often enjoy the responsive shooting and the extra challenge of managing fire in both directions. They also praise the gothic art and soundtrack, while several appreciate being able to adjust difficulty and explore the scoring systems. Some players find the game short, and opinions on its presentation and PC port vary.
