Succeeding in Tharsis requires you to make the best of what you have, even if it happens to be a pair of snake eyes. Certain factors may be outside of your control, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be overcome. Tharsis is not a game about facing the odds. It’s a game about changing them.

A mysterious signal from Mars draws humanity’s first mission there. After a micrometeoroid storm damages the ship and kills crew members, you take charge of the survivors and try to complete the journey.
Each turn brings ship emergencies, such as system failures or damage. Roll dice and assign their results to repair modules or use room and crew-specialty abilities; you must decide which problems to tackle and which to leave unresolved.
Keep the ship intact and the crew alive by managing health, stress, and food supplies. Food can restore crew members, and human meat is an option when provisions are scarce. The mission unfolds turn by turn as you respond to new hazards on the way to Mars.
Players who enjoy Tharsis often praise its dice-driven survival strategy, especially the tense choices about which disasters to fix and how to use crew abilities and resources. Some find the challenge and replayable runs compelling, while others dislike how bad rolls can overwhelm careful decisions. Several reviews also report crashes before the game reaches its menu.
