Players control a hero on a team of five in a three-lane match. They fight through the map, defend their own Crux, and work to destroy the opposing team's Crux.
Each hero has a distinct role and four abilities, shaping how players approach fights and team strategy. Heroes are available from the start, so players can choose among them without unlocking characters first.
Players can craft items by changing components and recipes, and pets that accompany heroes can be unlocked through play. Other match systems include shared kill bounties for contributing teammates, faster health and mana regeneration out of combat, and a personal courier that delivers purchased items.
