Playing as an archaeologist trapped beneath a dormant volcano in Mexico, you descend through underground ruins and uncover clues about a mysterious metal sphere and the civilization that left it behind.
A device lets you pull or push the giant Ball, your main tool for navigating the ruins. Roll it to activate mechanisms, tackle physics-based puzzles and traps, and crush creatures that stand in your way.
The single-player adventure spans eight levels, with hidden secrets and story fragments to find. A separate Survival mode adds four arenas of enemy waves, and the journey also includes an underground train and the Ball Chariot.
Reviewers who enjoy The Ball often point to its unusual physics-based sphere mechanic, puzzles that use the environment, and atmospheric underground ruins. Some find the puzzles accessible and satisfying, while others feel the central mechanic and encounters become repetitive, or that walking through large spaces slows the pace.
