You are the overseer of an underground dwarf colony. The dwarves mine and explore on their own, while you give indirect directions to steer them toward valuable resources and keep the colony working toward a high score.
Digging can expose water, lava, or hostile creatures, so you use tools such as barriers and dynamite to contain hazards and protect the Town Hall. You can also train warriors and build Outposts to deal with enemies and bosses; your actions cost gold, so spending it carefully matters.
The game includes several modes: Arcade runs with adjustable difficulty and time limits, wave-based Base Defense, fast-spawning Rush, and Dark Mode, where light is limited to dug tunnels. Campaign tutorials and challenges offer structured objectives, while Sandbox lets you create caves.
Reviewers often enjoy the hands-off colony management, where unpredictable miners create a stream of crises to handle, and describe the result as chaotic, entertaining, and easy to return to for short sessions. Several also appreciate the range of modes and difficulty levels. Others find the dwarves’ random digging frustrating, especially when it triggers flooding or other disasters.
