Play as a gladiator fighting through arena battles alone or with up to three others. In co-op, players are physically chained together; solo fighters are also constrained by a chain attached to an object.
Attack, charge, dodge, block with a shield and throw weapons or arena objects at enemies. Use the chains to trip or restrain foes, and turn hazards such as walls, spikes and pits to your advantage. Perform varied actions to excite the crowd and earn money.
After battles, choose how to recover from injuries: healing potions can bring side effects that hinder later fights. Train to gain skills, spend money on gear and supplies, and face increasingly demanding battles and bosses. Runs also offer character unlocks and different difficulty levels.

Each day in the arena leaves you with new wounds to add to your misery. Struggle on with a painful limp, try to get by with a missing left eye or flail madly at hallucinations only you can see. There are potions to relieve your pain but the side effects can leave you with worse afflictions, perhaps surgery is the answer…
